When Should I Start Testing?
Testing is best started on approximately day 7/8 unless your bitch falls into one of these categories:
- A Bulldog.
- A bitch that had previously failed to conceive.
- A bitch that has colourless seasons.
- You are travelling a long way/abroad to the stud dog, or using chilled or frozen semen, in these instances start earlier.
If using our postal service samples need to be sent via special delivery next day Royal Mail before 1pm or samples can also be hand delivered.
Once your sample has arrived you will receive a text to confirm its arrival and after processing for one hour a text with the progesterone level with advice on how next to proceed whether it be retest and when to do that or if she had already ovulated then when to mate her.
On occasions we have the bad news that the fertile window had been missed but this can usually be avoided if testing is started day 7 or even earlier.
You can NEVER test too early as we can work our way up to the point of ovulation but unfortunately we can’t turn the clock back, if you need any more specific information please call, be mindful that samples posted to us on a Saturday will not arrive until the Monday.
